Plot Synopsis
It's New York City at Christmas and Kristin Cartwright is rushing to get ready for a "Christmas Past" theme party at the record label where she works. Her best friend Jamie picks her up in his fancy company car with his new girlfriend Sophia, whom Kristin happens to loathe. Kristin is the life of the party, but when Jamie walks her home at the end of the night, he tells her that he's going home for Christmas back to California and he's bringing Sophia with him. She is devastated and the two part on bad terms. Armed with a bottle of champagne and lots of ice cream, she returns to her apartment. She laments to her cat that she hasn't been home for Christmas since she was seventeen years old, but she doesn't know how to change that now. She opens her present from Jamie, an iPhone pre-loaded with her favorite songs, and soon falls asleep. She wakes up in 1996, face to face with her 17-year-old self. Once they recover from the shock, Kristin and her younger self come up with a plan to explain her presence to their mother and get through Christmas together. Armed with what she knows now about the future, Kristin realizes that this is a life-changing Christmas not just for her, but for everyone in her family. On the fateful Christmas Eve where everything changed forever, Kristin races against time to prevent her past from repeating itself... and learns that the love of her life was right in front of her all along. When she wakes up Christmas morning back in the present day, she hopes it's not too late to change her future.
