Plot Synopsis
Based on the play by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. In 1956 Lackawanna, NY Nanny Crosby runs a rooming house filled with black emigrants from the south, a group of colorful characters on the fringes of their own segregated society. She takes in a little boy and raises him as her own son. His life is changed both by Nanny's love and the stories of her boarder's damaged lives and haunted pasts.
