Plot Synopsis

Life story of Richard Penniman who grew up in segregated Macon, Georgia and got his start singing in church. He later preformed in clubs, making a name for himself with an electrifying new sound. Breaking through racial barriers, the flamboyant entertainer recorded ''Tutti, Frutti'', in 1955. He went on to write and record a string of hits. Although successful on stage, his unhappy personal life caused him to question his life. At the height of his career he quit rock Ôn' roll and began to preaching the word of God.
