Plot Synopsis

In West Virginia, mining explosives expert Charley "Boomer" Baxter detonates some TNT, which leads to a massive earthquake that liquefies the terrain. Within hours, Dr. Amy Lane, a government seismologist who is studying the ghostly terrain of flattened mountains when an aftershock hits, rushes to gather data on this alarming seismic event. From a government helicopter, Amy and Boomer watch as a crack rushes toward the western horizon. Amy reveals that the initial explosion has exposed a deep fault in the earth's crust that threatens to spread across the entire North American continent. Amy and Boomer race against time to develop a plan to stop the crack that could potentially tear the world in half.
