Plot Synopsis

During the Christmas season, Alex Spencer, a single mother and Mensa-type astronomer, becomes engaged to her boyfriend, Peter, a pre-school teacher. Her equally intelligent and practical parents are less than thrilled. Having never met his parents, Alex insists Peter call them with the good news. What Peter failed to mention is that his parents are Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Excited, they drop everything to come for a visit...just until Christmas Eve, of course. When they arrive, Alex and her son, Max, are not prepared for the colorful couple who introduce themselves as Mr. and Mrs. C. and whose idea of dinner is fruitcake and sugar cookies. Wanting to meet their future in-laws, Peter's parents come for a visit, too. It turns out that her father told Alex there was no such thing as Santa Claus so she never believed in him. And now he's telling Max the same thing and is determined to find something to break up his daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law. Trouble ensues and Peter is forced to reveal the truth about his parents. Of course, no one believes him, least of all Alex's father who tells Peter and his family to leave. At Max's Christmas play, Alex finally believes him when she magically finds a letter she sent Santa when she was a little girl. Alex tells Peter she loves him and everyone finds the true meaning of Christmas.
