Plot Synopsis
In 1960, Richard Loving, a poor white laborer from Virginia marries his pregnant girlfriend Mildred Jeter, a beautiful young black woman. They are soon arrested for violation of the Virginia anti-interracial marriage law. Unable to let the law stand unchallenged, they, with the help of attorney Bernie Cohen, take their fight to the U.S. Supreme Court. In the 1967 landmark decision of Loving vs. Virginia, the court declared the law unconstitutional, ending the ban on interracial marriage in America.
