Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Kimberly Willis Holt. In rural Louisiana, the bright 12 year-old daughter of developmentally challenged parents wants nothing more that get away from her embarrassing family. Her life is thrown into turmoil when her grandmother dies and her aunt asks her to live with her in Baton Rouge. Just when she decides to move to the big city, a disaster strikes, which ultimately helps her realize how much she loves her parents and appreciate what she has and where she truly belongs.
