Plot Synopsis
Based on the novel ''The Reef'' by Edith Wharton. In the early 1900's a diplomat crosses paths with a old friend who was recently widowed and they both realize they have feelings for each other. They plan to meet in France but she cancels. Rejected, he begins a passionate love affair in Paris with a young woman. When the affair is over he is summoned to the widow's house and discovers his young ex-lover is her nanny and engaged to her stepson.
