Plot Synopsis
Based on the novel by Virginia Hamilton. An overweight black teenager continues to practice his beloved piano despite the fact the his unstable, overprotective mother hacked the strings out during a fit of rage. He often retreats into a fantasy world where he fancies himself a keyboard genius. As he withdraws more and more, his friends take it upon themselves to give him the opportunity to realize his dreams.
