Plot Synopsis

A 15-year old girl, growing up in a wealthy Latino family, comes of age when her father decides to marry a social-climbing woman whom she despises and, to express her growing rebellion, enters into a relationship with a poor boy from the barrio. As she crosses over into his world, she meets his family and discovers the warmth and closeness that is missing from her own family since her mother died. Ultimately, she reconnects with what is important to her and realizes how the enduring power of her mother's love transcends death.
