Plot Synopsis

Based on the book, "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony," by Jeff Ashton and Lisa Pulitzer. In 2008, two Orlando, Florida Assistant State Attorneys, Jeff Ashton and Linda Burdick, are assigned to prosecute the Casey Anthony trial. Anthony is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. Ashton works tirelessly to build the state's case, but much of the evidence has nothing to do with direct evidence of guilt; instead, it deals with her behavior in the weeks between the disappearance of Caylee and Casey's mother's call to the police. In a verdict that shocked the nation, Anthony was acquitted in 2011. Both the investigation into Caylee's tragic death and the ensuing trial shed new light on the many questions of what happened to the two-year-old girl, how Ashton and his fellow prosecutors built their case, and why a woman so shrouded in suspicion was proclaimed innocent.
