Plot Synopsis

Based on the play by Lanford Wilson. An adopted Amerasian teen is determined to find her sense of self and discover her roots. When her adopted father dies she seeks the comfort of her sensitive aunt who lives is a small community deep in the California Redwood Forest. Convinced that her biological father is one of the disenfranchised Vietnam Vets who have taken refuge in the woods she befriends a disturbed vet who eventually conveys the story of her birth-- her married adoptive father, who while serving in Vietnam had an affair with her mother. Unable to tell his socialite wife the truth, he arranged for her secret adoption.
