Plot Synopsis
A fierce conflict ensued between young, hot-shot director, Orson Welles, and media magnate William Randolph Hearst who tried to have the film ''Citizen Kane'' suppressed because he felt the picture displayed an obvious resemblance his own life. Studio heads, afraid of Hearst's power, pooled their money in an attempt to buy all the prints from RKO. But Wells made a passionate plea to RKO stockholders and the film premiered at the Palace Theater in NYC on May 1,1941.
