Plot Synopsis
In 1960, a 6 year old girl becomes the first black pupil to enter the all white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. Although protected by federal marshals from the threatening racist mobs, the child must contend with a bigoted administrator and fellow students who shun her. A segregationist boycott leaves her as the only student of a sympathetic teacher who helps through the ordeal.
