Plot Synopsis
A woman reflects back on when she was 10 years-old on her and lived on a farm with mother in North Carolina while her father was missing in action during WWII. One day, a mysterious drifter enters their lives and she and her mother befriend him. He is soon found out to have served time for refusing to fight in the war and is seen as a coward in the eyes of the townsfolk. But they defend him as he brings new life to their fallow farm. They fall in love with him, but when he learns their soldier man is returning home he realizes he must leave.
