Plot Synopsis

In 1989, a much-decorated career military officer and divorced mother of four applies for the job of chief nurse of the National Guard. During a top-secret security clearance hearing she admits that she is a lesbian. Three years later, she is dismissed from the military, becoming the highest-ranking officer ever to be thrown out because of sexual orientation. With the support of her lover and family she fights to be reinstated.
