Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Pete Hamill. In 1947 Brooklyn, a fatherless Catholic boy witnesses a violent beating of a Jewish store owner by an Irish street gang. Believing squealers to be worse than criminals, he evades questions from detectives. Carrying the troubling dilemma in his heart he soon forms an extraordinary bond with a Rabbi who lost his loved ones by the Nazis as did the boy whose father was killed in the war. The boy becomes a man when he learns to confront his tormentors and enforce justice.
