Plot Synopsis
In 1961, a successful black lawyer in a small town in Missouri, while trying to recover from his young son's accidental death, defends a black farmer who accidentally shot a white child with a gun rigged to keep deer away. Since the tragedy the attorney's wife has become a shut-in, sick with grief, guilt and blame. As the case unfold, the family is forced to reconcile with the past and heal deep emotional wounds.
