Plot Synopsis

On Saturday morning, August 20, 1989 SAVED BY THE BELL premiered on NBC. The sitcom followed a group of good-looking teens at Bayside High School in Los Angeles, California starring a group of unknowns: Mark-Paul Gosselaar as mischievous ringleader Zack Morris; Dustin Diamond as geeky loveable sidekick Screech; Mario Lopez as the hunky jock A.C. Slater; Tiffani-Amber Thiessen as cheerleader Kelly Kapowski; Elizabeth Berkley as beloved Jessie Sapano; and Lark Voorhies as the privileged Lisa Turtle. The show becomes a huge hit and the young actors are soon placed into the Hollywood spotlight, exposing the challenges of growing up under public scrutiny while trying to maintain the squeaky clean image of their popular characters -- both on and off-screen. As the kids become more famous, on set romances, jealousy and inflated egos begin to jeopardize the production of the immensely popular series.
