Plot Synopsis

In 1921, at age 39, Franklin Delano Roosevelt contracted polio that left him a paraplegic. His political aspirations shattered he falls into a severe depression. He goes to a backwoods, rundown health spa in Warm Springs, Ga. when he learns that the mineral waters there might be therapeutic. Accompanied by his wife Eleanor, he soon encounters the effects of disability, poverty, illiteracy and racism which gives him a renewed sense of purpose and a political soul.
