Plot Synopsis
In 1980's Florida, a lesbian's lover becomes pregnant by artificial insemination and gives birth to a daughter. The couple raise the baby together and lead a happy life until she dies of lupus. The grieving woman is devastated when she discovers her lover's parents have successfully gained legal custody of the child. After recovering from an emotional collapse she enlists the aid of a leading attorney to fight to get her daughter back. In a landmark case she is eventually awarded custody.
