Plot Synopsis
Based on the children's book by Michael S. Brandy & Eric Stein. In segregated 1963 Opelika, Alabama, seven-year-old Michael is obsessed with the desire to taste the water from the "white's only" drinking fountain and sets out on a quest to do the unthinkable: drink from it. When his loving and protective mother, Annie, and free-spirited father, Terrance, learn of his preoccupation with tasting the "white water," they do their best to steer him away from this risky adventure. But no one -- not his friends, parents or even the KKK -- can take Michael off his path.
