Plot Synopsis
Based on an article by Lucinda Franks. A highly publicized, two year custody battle ensues when the courts order Jan and Robby DeBoer to return their adopted two year old daughter to her birth parents. It is revealed that the father, Dan Schmidt, who was not married to the birth mother, Cara Clausen, at the time she gave the child up, never consented to the adoption. In 1993, the child was taken from a stable ,loving home to a unknown, troubled household.
