Plot Synopsis
Outspoken but fragile screen and stage actress France Farmer pays the price of refusing to play by Hollywood's rules. Used by her money grubbing mother and studio bosses, she seeks solace from her lover, playwright Clifford Odets. When her mental stability shatters she is sent to a mental institution where she is lobotomized. After five horrific years she is ultimately released.
