At the 2011 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour, NEW GIRL star Jake Johnson and Executive Producer Liz Meriwether answered questions while star Zooey Deschanel generally wowed critics with how adorable -- or adorkable -- she is. Find out about her role, her music and her sister Emily. Plus, see pictures of her on stage at the Tour!

Zooey said that "This role is me; well, a secret part of me." She continued, "When I read it, I thought I obviously need to play this part." It's almost as if the role was written specifically for her.

Plus, she'll sing. In real-life Zooey peforms in the band She & Him, which recently recorded a holiday album, due in stores later this year. For her new comedy, NEW GIRL, her character "sings when she doesn't know what to say. She sings when there's an awkward moment." That means the musical stylings will vary with mood.

But Zooey can't escape being asked questions about sister Emily, who stars on FOX in BONES. When asked about Emily's pregnancy, Zooey gushed "My sister Emily is having a baby, it's going to be so amazing!" And since Zooey did a guest spot on her sister's show, of course she was asked if her sister would reciprocate. "I hope so" was the best Zooey could muster.

NEW GIRL premieres on FOX on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 9pm ET, immediately after the season premiere of GLEE.
