PaleyFest 2012 Recap: BONES Panel with David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Creator Hart Hanson and More

BONES fans young and old from all over the globe gathered last night for an evening at PaleyFest 2012, which included a very special screening of an upcoming episode, "The Bump in the Road." Immediately after the screening, TVLine's Michael Ausiello moderated a panel with the show's creator Hart Hanson, executive producer Stephen Nathan, and series' stars David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, TJ Thyne, Michaela Conlin, and Jon Francis Daley.
"The Bump in the Road," in which Brennan and Booth must solve a murder as Brennan goes into labor, was met with raucous laughter and tears by the show's many fans. Starting with this episode, airing April 2, 2012 at 8pm ET on FOX, BONES moves to Monday nights for the rest of Season 7.
After the screening, the cast joined together for clever quips and playful jabs during a robust panel in which Boreanaz even brought donuts to share with the boisterous audience. "I think we've always gotten along pretty well," Emily Deschanel said of her fellow castmembers, with TJ Thyne chiming in to add, "It is a family."

On Emily Deschanel's recent baby and Brennan's pregnancy:
- "I don't know... he's awesome," Deschanel jokingly said of her newborn son, Henry.
- Deschanel claimed that she had a hypno-birth and barely made a peep when her son was born. Therefore, her experience was not very similar to Brennan's labor pains.
- "We knew she [Brennan] was going to have a baby as soon as she [Emily Deschanel] whispered into my ear," executive producer Stephen Nathan explained.
- "That baby peed on us," Deschanel joked about her on-screen child. |

On what kind of obstacles Brennan and Booth will face with the arrival of their new daughter:
Stephen Nathan: "It's still BONES... This baby informs their [Brennan and Booth's] lives in a completely new way and they have to deal with this baby while they're solving crimes."
Hart Hanson: "Booth and Brennan have gone from unrequited to realized love and somehow the chemistry has changed in a really interesting way." |

On how Parker will react to Brennan and Booth's child:
- "You'll see," Stephen Nathan teasingly said.
- "Who???" Boreanaz joked. |

Have Emily and Michaela Conlin been bonding over parenthood?
- "Rather than discussing sex and boys we discuss babies and boobs," Conlin joked. |

On Hodgins' anger issues in the past and his future:
- "I think he's transitioned from being a mad scientist to a rational one," according to TJ Thynes.
- "Jack would love that," Thynes said about Hodgins going to let off some steam at the shooting range with Booth.
- "Why haven't we seen Jack driving a Ferrari?" Thynes quipped about Hodgins' family supposedly owning the Jeffersonian. |

On the Season 7 finale::
- Hart played mum when asked about if there would be any deaths in the upcoming finale. "We couldn't tell you," he said coyly.
- Stephen Nathan chimed in, saying"It will change the course of the beginning of Season 8." |

On a Brennan and Booth wedding:
- "I think yes... there's a little bit of change in there," Deschanel said referring to Bone's evolving feelings about marriage.

Hart Hanson stated that they would like to further delve into the stories behind Angela and Booth's mothers. |

On whether or not we'll see certain characters or guest stars again:
Hart Hanson about Eric Millegan's Zack: "There's a group of people who would like to see him again and a larger group that doesn't remember him... We listen to the fans and would need a story that would take us there... If we find something that makes it worthwhile and Eric's available.... Then we'll do it."
Stephen Nathan about Zooey Deschanel: "We're just trying to find someone who knows her." [to a laughing crowd]
Emily Deschanel about her sister, Zooey: "She's talked to me about me being on her show [NEW GIRL]." |

Teasing the upcoming "meta" episode where Booth and Brennan go to Hollywood to meet their actor counterparts::
- "We got really jealous of COMMUNITY and wanted to do a meta show," Hart Hanson playfully said adding that, "We're waving at fans, we're waving at Kathy Reichs... Longtime fans will just be delighted with what they see."
- "It's as if you got incredibly drunk and watched BONES," Stephen Nathan joked to the crowd. "We just made the set a bit ridiculous... There is a Hodgins and a Cam like you've never seen Cam before." |

What did Michaela Conlin say to us on the red carpet?
Michaela Conlin bought her entire ensemble from H&M, including her trendsetting neon yellow shoes. When we asked what she was watching on TV, Conlin stated that she loves watching Idris Elba in the BBC's LUTHER along with SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and 60 MINUTES. |
