Plot Synopsis

A TO Z is a half-hour romantic comedy that follows a young couple, Andrew and Zelda, through their entire relationship -- from meet up to break up -- which lasts eight months, three weeks, five days and one hour. Although Andrew is a sarcastic guy's guy who loves sports and action movies, he's also a smart and optimistic closet romantic who dreams of finding "the one." He imagines her to be just like the shimmering beauty he spotted that night in that silver dress at that concert two years ago. Now he just has to find her. Zelda, having grown up with a hippie mom who believed the universe would provide for everything, rebelled into a no-nonsense practical lawyer at a small, public-advocacy firm. Alternately serious and hilarious, Zelda believes she controls her own destiny -- which is why she prefers the control of online dating -- and she doesn't understand why anyone over 20 would go see an animated movie or eat ice cream sundaes. But when a computer glitch sends her a total mismatch, she's asked to come in for an interview at Wallflower Online Dating, the Internet dating site where Andrew works -- and this is where it all begins. Andrew and Zelda meet for the first time and despite their differences, sparks fly. She thinks it's chance. He thinks it's fate. After all, he's convinced she's the shimmering girl in the silver dress. Zelda gets help from Stephie, her best friend, roommate and co-worker, while Andrew relies on co-worker and roommate Stu, who despite his outward obnoxiousness and often unsolicited advice, is a great guy and loyal friend. Plus, Andrew works with: Lydia (aka Big Bird), the general manager of the online dating company, who believes that her job is not to help people find love but to keep them paying the monthly membership fee; and Lora and Dinesh, two programmers whose work skills have been known to come in quite handy when Andrew needs a favor. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are executive producers of A TO Z.
