Plot Synopsis

Directed and executive produced by Luke Korem, ACTION is a four-part documentary series that explores the legalization of sports gambling, following the landmark 2018 Supreme Court ruling to lift the ban on sports betting, peeling back the curtain on a once taboo industry during its most critical juncture. The series chronicles the lives of professional gamblers, oddsmakers, polarizing consultants, illegal bookies and more throughout the 2018 NFL season, culminating with the biggest gambling day of the year, Super Bowl Sunday. An estimated $400-$500 billion is wagered annually on sports gambling in the United States, and the potential for corruption and scandal among athletes is also explored as this once-taboo community welcomes legalization. The series introduces a diverse cross-section of the gambling community, including professional gambler Bill "Krack" Krackomberger, who explains his unique strategy to gain an edge against sports books; professional handicapper Kelly Stewart aka "Kelly In Vegas"; polarizing sports betting consultant Dave "Vegas Dave" Oancea; and more. ACTION also features Seattle Seahawks quarterback and Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, legendary bookmaker Jimmy Vaccaro, sports broadcasting icon Brent Musburger, and comedian Cousin Sal.
