Plot Synopsis
Using time-lapse cameras, specialist photography and the science of decay, Dr. George McGavin reveals what happens inside a home if everything inside was left to rot for three months. During the Summer of 2011, a glass box containing a typical kitchen and garden was left to rot in full public view within Edinburgh Zoo. This box was designed with digital lights and cameras to capture the extraordinary and beautiful way in which molds, microbes and insects break down everyday things, allowing new life to emerge from old. Even though this show aired as a 90-minute special in the UK, Science Channel aired it as a two-part program, showing the U.S. premiere on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 9pm with back-to-back episodes.
