Plot Synopsis

ALL-AMERICAN MUSLIM is a reality series that follows five Muslim-American families in Dearborn, Michigan. The families, each adhering to their faith with varying degrees, share their biggest celebrations and their unexpected challenges, while observing customs in their own unique ways and dealing with the misconceptions, conflicts and differences they face outside -- and within -- their own community. The families on the series include: tight-knit sisters Shadia and Suehaila, who are very different -- Suehaila wears the traditional head scarf, is active in the Muslim community and prays five time a day, while Shadia is outspoken, has piercings and recently married an Irish Catholic who is converting to Islam; recently-married couple Nadar and Newal, who are having their first baby while trying to find the balance between their traditional Muslim roots and American culture; and married couple Mike and Angela -- Mike works to educate the Wayne County Sheriff's Department about the Muslim religion in an effort to reduce discrimination and ignorance while Angela works as a consultant to a major auto manufacturer and struggles to find the balance between work and raising a modern Muslim family.
