Plot Synopsis

ALONE is an adventure reality series that places ten hardcore survivalists alone in the wilderness -- no camera crew, no teams, no producers -- on a single mission to stay alive. At stake is $500,000 awarded to the person who can last the longest. Throughout the competition, they face extreme isolation and psychological distress as they plunge into the unknown, self-documenting their experience. Seasons 1 and 2 took place on Vancouver Island.

On Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, History premiered the 13-episode second season of ALONE, immediately following an all-day marathon (10am-9pm) of encore episodes from the previous season.

Season 3 of ALONE premiered on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following a new one-hour special. The ten-episode new season places ten hardcore survivalists -- both male and female -- alone in the cold, isolated region of Patagonia, Argentina with one mission: to stay alive. As in previous seasons, with no camera crews, no teams, and no gimmicks, these survivalists face treacherous predators like never before, experience unforgiving and unpredictable weather conditions and showcase unbelievable building acumen by creating the most ingenious inventions. Before the season begins, the "Making the Cut: Season 3" special at 8pm introduced the ten brave participants on ALONE Season 3 and learn about the extreme new location at the edge of the world. Then, in the season opener (9pm), "A New Land," the adventure begins as ten new participants are abandoned in the remote wilderness of Patagonia to live as long as they possibly can. Faced with the unforgiving terrain of a foreign land and the onset of winter, each must act quickly to adapt to their new environment in order to survive. On December 7 -- one day before the Season 3 premiere -- History announced that it renewed ALONE for a fourth season.

On Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, History premiered the fourth season of ALONE. Season 4 features a brand new challenge as seven pairs of family members are dropped miles apart on Northern Vancouver Island, where they must find each other and survive together. They have two ultimate goals: navigate the brutal, unforgiving terrain of Vancouver Island in an attempt to locate their isolated partner and, once reunited, survive as long as they can. For these seven pairs of family members will having a partner help or hurt their chances of going the distance? Similar to previous seasons, the survivalists must build their own shelters, forage their own food, and overcome numerous obstacles if they want to be the last people standing. With ten survival tools to share per team, enough camera gear to self-document their experiences and a cash prize of $500,000 on the line, season four will bring more sacrifices and higher stakes than ever before.

Season 5 of ALONE premiered on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on History, featuring 10 participants returning for a chance at redemption at the edge of Siberia. After coming up short in their respective seasons, these men and women have even greater motivations and well-planned strategies for survival. They must build their own shelters, hunt their own food, and overcome numerous deadly obstacles - such as the venomous Siberian Pit Viper and feral wolves - if they want to be the last person standing. With ten survival tools each, enough camera gear to self-document their experiences and a cash prize of $500,000 on the line, season five will bring higher stakes, impressive levels of ingenuity and a greater desire to succeed than ever before. No camera crew. No gimmicks. "Alone" is the utmost test of human will and fierce determination to overcome the elements. This season, who will have the strength to endure the longest and win the ultimate prize?

The sixth season of ALONE premiered on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on History. Season 6 introduces a new set of men and women to face brutally freezing conditions in the most punishing environment yet -- deep in the Canadian Arctic. In this new location, at the edge of the Arctic Circle, they must build their own shelters, hunt their own food, and overcome numerous deadly obstacles -- such as a thriving grizzly and black bear population, territorial moose, packs of wolves and the increased risk of freezing -- if they want to be the last person standing. With only a small rucksack of tools, enough camera gear to self-document their experiences and a cash prize of $500,000 on the line, season six will bring higher stakes, impressive levels of ingenuity and a greater desire to succeed than ever before. No camera crew. No gimmicks. In the season opener, "Icebreaker," 10 new survivalists have a chance to win $500,000 by enduring the coldest location in the history of ALONE: The Arctic. Participants grapple with a harsh storm out of the gate.

ALONE returned for its seventh season on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on History. This season's participants face the biggest twist in series history: a 100-day challenge for 1 million dollars. The rules are simple, survive 100 days and win 1 million dollars. Over six seasons, no one has ever lasted this long. Achieving this goal will be a struggle, especially when the survivalists have to endure the intense conditions and aggressive predators of the Arctic. In the season opener, "Million Dollar Mistake," 10 new participants confront the most grueling challenge in ALONE history and they face a variety of predators for the first hurdle they must overcome.

Season 8 of ALONE premiered on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 9:30-11pm ET/PT on History Channel. This season, ten contestants fight to survive in the Canadian wilderness on the shores of Chilko Lake, British Columbia - a location with one of the densest grizzly bear populations on earth. Survivalists are dropped off in undisclosed, remote locations and equipped with just ten survival tools, and enough camera gear to self-document their experiences. The survivalist who endures the longest, facing total isolation, punishing weather, and deadly predators, will win the $500,000 grand prize. In the 90-minute season opener, "The Hunted," ten new participants brave Alone's most terrifying location yet in pursuit of $500,000. One participant is forced to make a life-or-death decision, and all must contend with Chilko Lake's deadliest predator: the grizzly bear.

ALONE returned for its ninth season on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT on History Channel. Season 9 sets survivalists in a location with one of the harshest weather conditions yet. Enduring wet, snowy, merciless conditions, survivalists' building ingenuity, mental willpower and overall wilderness skills are put to the test as they must build their own shelters, forage their own food, and overcome numerous obstacles and dangerous predators in hopes of being the last person standing. In the 90-minute season opener, "Drop Shock," ten new participants have a chance to win $500,000 as they try their best to survive in one of Earth's harshest locations. The survivalists struggle acclimating to their home while predators encircle their camps. Participants include: Terry Burns, Tom Garstang, Benji Hill, Karie Lee Knoke, Jessie Krebs, Igor Limansky, Juan Pablo Quinonez, Adam Riley, Teimojin Tan, and Jacques Turcotte.

Season 10 of ALONE premiered on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT on History Channel, immediately following a new one-hour special. Dropped in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada -- home to vicious predators including territorial black bear, wolves, and moose -- the ten survivalists will compete with each other, endure bone-chilling temperatures and face off against some of the largest animals in North America in an effort to last for as long as they can. With just ten survival items per person and enough camera gear to self-document their experiences, this is the series' toughest season yet. No camera crews. No gimmicks. Alone is the ultimate test of human will. Participants include: James 'Wyatt' Black (50), a business owner from Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada; Cade Cole (28), a professional hunting guide from Crowheart, Wyoming; Lee Ray DeWilde (59), a pilot from Huslia, Alaska; Mikey Helton (31), a carpenter from Rome, Georgia; Luke Joseph Olsen (39), an entrepreneur and glass artist from Maui, Hawaii; Jodi Rose (45), owner of Wild River Tables from Worland, Wyoming; Ann Rosenquist (56), an off-grid organic farmer from Northern Wisconsin; Melanie Sawyer (54), a living history teacher and founder of Wild Foods from Essex County, New York; Alan Tenta (52), a high school teacher from Columbia Valley, BC, Canada; and Tarcisio 'Tax' Ramos Dos Santos (35), a direct support professional, musician, and homesteader, from Becket, Massachusetts and Sergipe, Brazil.

On Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT, History Channel premiered "By Any Means," the Season 10 finale of ALONE. The three remaining survivalists brace themselves for the fight to the finish. One participant finds it impossible to stay warm, while others risk it all on the ice. Though they all push themselves to their limits, only one can claim the $500,000 prize.
