Plot Synopsis

This reality series follows a group of daredevils, as they travel across the United State to perform live death-defying acts without the luxuries of rehearsals or second chances. They launch themselves through the air in cars and motorcycles, light themselves on fire, jump off tall buildings, and risk their lives in countless crash-and-burn stunts. Although they don't perform together, these men do share a common goal -- to proudly carry the torch lit by Evel Knievel. Each 30-minute episode of AMERICAN DAREDEVILS features these four daredevils: Spanky Spangler, a former Green Beret in the elite 101st Airborne 2/502 Infantry division, who began performing stunts at the age of 12 and who, after being inspired by Evel Knievel to leave his job as a Hollywood stuntman, has toured and performed live events for four decades, surviving more than 22,000 stunts; Spanky Jr., a 32-year-old husband and father of four, who has always wanted to step into his dad's shoes as a travelling daredevil and who runs a thriving construction business in Phoenix; Dr. Danger, who has zigzagged his way across the United States for 20 years in a $300 Suburban hitched to a trailer full of ramps and explosives; and Mr. Dizzy, a former race-car driver, who began performing his first stunts on Independence Day in the early 2000s, after years of watching Spanky Spangler, Bryan Carson and other daredevils thrill audiences on live TV and in person. This series opens with the four guys all champing at the bit to get their first stunts of the year under their belts, but Spanky soon gets in an epic wreck during his car jump that gives his son a chance to headline a show in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan while he recovers. Meanwhile, Dr. Danger kicks off his season with a fire run in Texarkana, Texas, followed by a domino car crash in Killeen, and then a flying school-bus stunt in the tiny desert town of Kingman, Arizona. Mr. Dizzy starts his tour in the cursed Magic Valley Speedway (Twin Falls, Idaho) -- where the last four daredevils to perform have met with concussions, busted bones, and near death crashes -- and then travels to Monroe, Washington, where he wants to take a full-sized Suburban SUV, attach a trailer with a boat on it, and launch off a ramp and over three RVs.
