Plot Synopsis

On the remote Caribbean island of Dominica, seven challengers take on Mother Nature's most brutal obstacle course. In an epic journey through four distinct terrains -- the jungle, coast, mountains and canyons -- these men and women live completely off the land, while tackling the most punishing obstacles on Earth. They face conditions that early inhabitants tackled hundreds of years ago, relying on nothing more than basic tools, mental toughness and brute strength. After kayaking through open water to reach the inhospitable island, the first challenge is to navigate an impenetrable jungle filled with vines, roots and steep cliffs -- a harsh taste of the myriad obstacles the island will throw at them. Over the subsequent weeks, challengers must traverse dense jungles, raging rivers and towering mountains, all while foraging for food to keep them fueled for the long and strenuous journey. The seven adventurers are: Jeremy Guarino, a small business owner from Buffalo, NY, who is a parkour master; Maria Herrera, a bartender from San Diego, CA, who can climb a two-story rope in under 20 seconds; Derek Knutson, a pro timber sports athlete from Hayward, WI, who can climb a six-story tree in 14 seconds; Kim Liszka, an emergency room nurse from Macungie, PA, who can run 26 miles uphill without stopping; Brandon Morrison, a personal trainer from Seattle, WA, who can lift over 600 pounds; Tim Olson, a stay-at-home dad from Boulder, CO, who can run 100+ miles without stopping; and Tim Reames, a security contractor from Austin, TX, whose military training taught him to overcome through mental conditioning.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Discovery premiered the season finale of AMERICAN TARZAN. In the season ender, "Witch's Hat," the remaining four contestants race to the highest peak in Dominica after facing waterfalls, lakes and extreme terrain.
