Plot Synopsis

AMERICA'S GOT TALENT is a talent reality series that crosses the US looking for America's most talented performers. The competition is open to acts of all ages and to all types of performers, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists. After the nationwide audition rounds, the top acts are brought to the studio where they perform in front of a live audience, allowing the viewers to vote and determine which acts go home. The performer with most votes in the final round wins $1 million. In Season 1, 11-year-old singer Bianca Ryan (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) won, and within 15 months she released a self-titled CD that opened at #57 on the Billboard 200. Ventriloquist Terry Fator (Dallas, Texas) won Season 2 and signed a deal to headline the Las Vegas Hilton. Insurance salesman/opera singer Neal E. Boyd (Sikeston, Missouri) won the third season. In 2009, an unemployed farmer and longtime musician, Kevin Skinner (Mayfield, Kentucky), prevailed in Season 4, winning one million dollars and headlined the "America's Got Talent" show at the Planet Hollywood Casino and Resort in Las Vegas. Singer/songwriter Michael Grimm and crooner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. won Seasons 5 and 6, respectively, both headlining Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Olate Dogs, the father-son dog training team of Richard and Nicolas Olate and their canines, won the title in Season 7, along with $1 million and headliner status at "America's Got Talent" show at the Palazzo in Las Vegas in Fall 2012.

When AGT returned for its eighth season on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT, the show welcomed back host Nick Cannon and judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel, while introducing new judges Heidi Klum and Mel B, who were all wowed by the innovative dance productions of Season 8 winner Kenichi Ebina.

Season 9 open-call audition cities included: Miami (Oct. 26-27); Atlanta (Nov. 2-3); New York (Nov. 16-17); Denver (Dec. 7-8); Houston (Jan. 18-19); Indianapolis (Jan. 25-26); Nashville (Jan. 28); Greensboro (Jan. 29); Baltimore (Jan. 30); Providence (Feb. 1); and Los Angeles (Feb. 8-9).

NBC premiered the tenth season of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 8-10pm ET/PT, with Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel returning as judges and Nick Cannon returning as host. This season, the Golden Buzzer allows four lucky acts the chance to go directly to the live performance rounds at Radio City Music Hall. Plus, to accommodate acts that are simply too big for the theater, AGT brings the show outdoors to showcase some of the biggest and most dangerous acts to ever audition. Similar to the acts in theater, the extreme contestants, filmed at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, are subject to the judges' dreaded 'X' buzzers. Later in the season, beginning Tuesday, July 14, boot camp begins, and each week one judge receives a special advantage over the others in determining which acts become part of the Top 36 to take part in the live performance shows, which begin Tuesday, August 11.

Open call auditions for AGT's new season kicked off in Detroit on Nov. 7 and made stops in 12 U.S. cities, including New York, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, San Jose, San Diego, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas. In the season premiere, variety acts of all types and contestants of all ages audition for the chance to win the $1 million prize. The Golden Buzzer is back and allows four lucky acts the chance to go directly to the live performance rounds at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to compete for America's vote.
