Plot Synopsis

ASCENSION is a one-hour drama series that follows a covert U.S. space mission launched in 1963 that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship's population to question the true nature of their mission. Ascension inhabitants include:the eponymous ship's captain William Denninger, who is noble, fair, confident and commanding -- at least in public; Viondra Denniger, the Captain's beautiful and dangerous wife, who also serves as the ship's Chief Steward and regards herself as a not-so-secret power broker aboard the Ascension; Harris Enzmann, who shares his father's vision of Ascension as a lifeboat for humanity; the confident and capable XO Aaron Gault, who has everything he wants -- respect from the Captain of the ship, a high ranking position and charming good looks -- except for Duke Vanderhaus' wife; Chief Astronomer Emily Vanderhaus, who has always been the dutiful daughter and is even married to the right guy, even though she's in love with someone else; the ship's head doctor Juliet Bryce, who is keen to follow the ship's rules because she's never known any other life outside Ascension; Juliet's daughter, Nora; Nora's love interest, James Toback; and Emily's husband, Safety Officer Duke Vanderhaus. This three-night, six-hour event series aired from 9-11pm ET/PT on Syfy on three consecutive nights: Monday (Dec 15), Tuesday (Dec 16), and Wednesday (Dec 17).

On Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 9-11pm ET/PT, Syfy premiered the third and final installment of ASCENSION, immediately following encore presentations of Nights 1 & 2 from 5:30-9pm ET/PT.
