Plot Synopsis

This 4.5-hour miniseries, inspired by Par Lagerkvist's 1950 Nobel Prize-winning novel of the same name, tells the story of Barabbas, the man whose life was spared by the decision to crucify Jesus Christ. After witnessing Christ's crucifixion, Barabbas experiences a series of life-altering events and eventually embraces Jesus as the messiah before he himself is crucified. While alive, Barabbas was able to interact with the people who were closest to Jesus -- Mary, Lazarus, Peter, Judas, Mark and Pilate -- and search for answers to critical questions: Who was Jesus? Was he really the son of God? Why did he die? Why should I believe? Why did he die in my place? Shot on location in Tunisia. In the week before Easter 2013, ReelzChannel presented the U.S. premiere of this program on Monday, March 25 from 9-11:30pm ET and Tuesday, March 26 from 9-11pm ET.
