Plot Synopsis

BARNEY'S WORLD is a fresh take on the iconic series that introduced the world to their favorite purple dinosaur, Barney, in 1988. This all-new animated series is set in the local playground, where Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid best friends: Vivie, Mel, and David. Each episode of taps into the pillars self-love and friendship. BARNEY'S WORLD debuted on Monday, October 14, 2024 on Max, which released the first five episodes. Three days earlier -- on Friday, October 11 -- the first episode of the series had an early release on Barney's YouTube channel. Then, a few days later on Friday, October 18 at 8:05am ET/PT, Cartoon Network aired the linear television debut of the series. The first five episodes are:

"The Floor is Grape Jelly": When David is frustrated to be called home early to help with his baby sister, Barney creates a magical game where David is reminded how good it feels to help others. He leaves the park excited to help out as a big brother.

"I Lovey You": Barney's magic creates a nighttime adventure in the park, but David is scared of the dark. Barney becomes a giant glowing action figure to help David calm down so he can stay and play with his friends.

"Mel's Greatest Treasure": Mel is on a quest to find a special treasure and accidentally makes a big mess in the park. Barney creates a magical adventure where Mel learns it's important to clean up and care for a place that's special to you and your community.

"One Ripe Tomato": When Vivie disagrees with her friends about who gets to use a ripe garden tomato, Barney creates space for everyone to share their ideas. Vivie realizes it's important to share, and they use the tomato to make a pizza everyone can enjoy.

"Barney's Big Race": Inspired by a hot-rod in Mel's dad's garage, Barney helps the kids make their own magical hot rod-style race cars! When Mel gets frustrated that she keeps losing the race, Barney helps her realize there's more to racing than just winning.

On Monday, January 13, 2025, Max released an additional 10 episodes of BARNEY'S WORLD. In the mid-season premiere, "Save the Garden," determined to save the community garden, Barney and the kids go on a magical adventure where they become butterflies and help a little ladybug with a big problem. They ultimately learn that doing small things can affect big change!
