Plot Synopsis

Based on Karen Kingsbury's book series of the same name, THE BAXTERS is family drama series that follows Elizabeth and John Baxter and their five adult children. All three seasons of THE BAXTERS dropped on Thursday, March 28, 2024 on Prime Video.

The 10-episode first season centers on Elizabeth and John's daughter, Kari, who learns the shocking truth that her professor husband, Tim, has been secretly having an affair with one of his college students. As her relationship is tested, Kari must seek comfort in her faith and family to discover if love is truly a choice and if her marriage can be redeemed. In this deeply moving faith-based journey, The Baxters must come together as a family to work through the challenges of life.

Season 2, which features 12 episodes, tests the family's faith in new and profound ways. Ashley begins to take control of her life. Kari struggles with the death of her husband. Then, when an unthinkable tragedy strikes the community, each Baxter family member is affected and must cope. Luke, the once confident believer in God, spirals into anger and doubt after his relationship with Reagan is tested.

In the 12-episode third season, Luke is still reeling from the horrific tragedy at his family's church. Angry at himself and everyone around him, Luke becomes hardened as he moves further away from his faith and family. The other Baxter siblings must navigate their own unique collective hardships. Kari has doubts about marrying Ryan, and Ashley's past life in Paris returns to haunt her.
