Plot Synopsis

Each December since 2011, DIY Network has aired a one-hour special that explores the building process for the HGTV Dream Home, just before the sweepstakes period opens for the home that will be given away to one lucky person in America's largest sweepstakes during the following February. A DIY Network host -- MEGA DENS' Anitra Mecadon in 2011, HOUSE CRASHERS' Josh Temple in 2012, 2013 & 2015 and BATH CRASHERS' Matt Muenster in 2014 -- takes viewers behind the scenes of the entire building process -- from the selection of the location, to the planning, construction, and furnishing of every room.

On Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11pm ET/PT, DIY Network premiered BEHIND THE BUILD: HGTV DREAM HOME 2019, hosted by Alison Victoria and Brian Patrick Flynn.
