Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2001, Black Entertainment Television (BET) has honored superlative triumphs and successes of artists, entertainers and athletes in 20 categories, featuring performances by the biggest names in R&B, hip-hop and gospel. The 13th annual awards, hosted by actor and comedian Chris Tucker, were broadcast live on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 8pm ET (tape delay at 8pm PT) from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA. The 2013 awards show included performances by Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, R. Kelly, Nicki Minaj, Miguel, India.Arie, Ciara, Chris Brown, and Kendrick Lamar. Plus, Austin Brown and Curtis Fields took the stage during BET AWARDS '13 as part of the BET Music Matters program. This year, the Humanitarian Award went to Miami Heat basketball star Dwyane Wade, while R&B singer/songwriter Charlie Wilson received the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award. The 14th Annual BET AWARDS, hosted by Chris Rock from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, aired live on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 8pm ET (live)/8pm PT (tape delay) on BET with a simulcast on Centric. THE BET AWARDS 2014 featured performances by Pharrell Williams, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Lionel Richie, T.I., Tyga, Iggy Azalea, Robin Thicke, Yolanda Adams, Ledisi, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Jhene Aiko and August Alsina. Plus, these celebs were scheduled to present: Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Keke Palmer, Regina Hall, Bow Wow, Keshia Chante, Larenz Tate, and more. THE BET AWARDS 2015, hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, featured Janet Jackson as recipient of the inaugural Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual award with Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe slated to perform a special dance tribute to the iconic entertainer. The 17th annual event, hosted by Leslie Jones, included performances by Bruno Mars, Future, Migos, Trey Songz and Tamar Braxton, and more.
On Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 8pm ET (live)/8pm PT (tape), BET broadcast the 2019 BET AWARDS live from the Microsoft Theater (fka Nokia Theatre) at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, with a simulcast on BET HER, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Classic, VH1, Logo, and TV Land. Hosted by Regina Hall, this year's event featured performances by Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lizzo, Mustard, Lil Baby, City Girls' Yung Miami, Lucky Daye, Kiana Lede, Meek Mill, Fantasia, DaBaby, Jeremih, Kirk Franklin, Erica Campbell, Kelly Price and Jonathan McReynolds. Plus, the following celebrities were set to present: Taraji P. Henson, Lena Waithe, Morris Chestnut, Yara Shahidi, Marsai Martin, La La Anthony, Ayesha Curry, Larenz Tate, Amanda Seales, Reverend Al Sharpton, Ryan Destiny, Jacob Latimore, Raphael Saadiq, Mike Colter, Damson Idris, Jodie Turner-Smith, Melina Matsoukas, and more.

Nipsey Hussle is posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award, featuring a special tribute performance by John Legend, DJ Khaled, and YG. Additionally, Mary J. Blige is presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and entertainment mogul Tyler Perry is recognized with the Ultimate Icon Award.
