Plot Synopsis

Using never-before-seen photos and videos as well as first-person interviews with family members, friends, laymen and celebrities, each half-hour episode of BET HER PRESENTS: EXCEPTIONAL BLACK WOMEN features one exceptional black woman, highlighting her key contributions to society. On the premiere episode, legendary lyricist, DJ, author, actress, entertainer, philanthropist, and icon MC Lyte reveals her intimate stories of struggle, perseverance, and success in the music industry. She also recounts her journey from growing up in a single-parent home in Brooklyn to being the first female solo rapper ever nominated for a Grammy and more. MC Lyte's business partner Dr. Lynn Richardson and her mother, Constance Moorer, provide first-hand accounts. Subsequent episodes highlight the lives of Maxine Waters (March 9), Meagan Good (March 16), Terri J. Vaughn (March 23), and Regina Hall (March 30).
