Plot Synopsis

BET'S COMICVIEW features up-and-coming comedians from all over the country, launching careers of entertainers like D.L. Hughley, Cedric 'The Entertainer,' Don 'D.C.' Curry, Ricky Smiley and Mike Epps. The show's twelfth season, hosted by J. Anthony Brown, was taped on location in Los Angeles, CA at the Doolittle Theatre and premiered on BET in October 2003. One year later on October 21, 2014, this series returned with a new title (BET'S CLUB COMICVIEW) and a new host, Rickey Smiley, who manned the mic for a second season. For its fourteenth season, this series returned on October 4, 2005 with new host Sheryl Underwood, and its original title, BET's COMICVIEW. After an 8.5-year break, COMICVIEW relaunched with a new season on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on BET with Sommore returning as host nearly 20 years after her first stint being at the mic for this series. The season premiere featured comedians James Davis and Trev Houston, with subsequent episodes including the comedy of Jason Collings, D'Lai, and many more.

After only four weeks of new episodes in May 2014, COMICVIEW took a three-month break, returning on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on BET with back-to-back new episodes, featuring David Arnold & Tiffany Haddish at 10pm and Sydney Castillo & Chastity Washington at 10:30pm.
