Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1965, The Kennel Club of Beverly Hills has hosted at least on annual dog show. Now, this member of the American Kennel Club has two annual shows that attract top-rated dogs, their owners and handlers, and judges, as well as international visitors. USA Network premiered the inaugural telecast of THE BEVERLY HILLS DOG SHOW on Sunday, April 16, 2017 from 8-10pm ET/PT, six weeks after the event took place at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, on Saturday and Sunday, March 4 & 5. Hosted by legendary breeder, owner, handler, author and judge David Frei, alongside award-winning actor, author and Broadway star John O'Hurley, this year's event features over 1,000 dogs from more than 200 eligible breeds. The crowning of Best in Show will be the culmination of the two-hour television presentation -- and will also feature the seven Best in Show finalists walking a fashion-show style runway while the judge decides the champion. The competition also features Olympic medalists Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski as correspondents on the show's red carpet and sports icon Mary Carillo reporting from backstage. Lisa Vanderpump presents the Best in Show award, and E! News Co-Host Maria Menounos is on hand interviewing attendees about how their dogs are the stars of their families. During the show, USA will stream a live puppy viewing party on the network's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/USANetwork, allowing fans at home a chance to experience the spectacle with their favorite four-legged friends. Throughout the broadcast, viewers can post photos of their furry companions on Twitter using @Purina along with the hashtag #BHDogShow. From April 10-23, Purina will donate $1 for each social media post (up to $25,000) to Leader Dogs for the Blind, a global organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

The 2020 BEVERLY HILLS DOG SHOW premiered on Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 8-10pm ET/PT on NBC. The fourth annual broadcast combines the star power of Hollywood with the competitive canine world to celebrate man's best friend in the glamourous way only Beverly Hills can provide. The show is co-hosted by John O'Hurley and David Frei. Maria Menounos welcomes two and four-legged celebrity guests on the red carpet, Mary Carillo reports from inside the show ring and AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR host Akbar Gbajabiamila provides behind-the-scenes access as digital contributor. This year's dog-loving celebrity guests include Lauren Ash, Brian Baumgartner, Reece Caddell, Jade Catta-Preta, Olivia Culpo, Ester Dean, Bo Derek, Doug the Pug, Parveen Kaur, MJ Javid & Tommy Feight, Olympians Nastia Liukin and Greg Louganis, Ariana Madix, comedian Justine Marino, Caitlin McGee, Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier and Jocko Sims. Two newly AKC-sanctioned breeds compete to be top dog this year. The Barbet (sporting group) is a water dog from France with a long, sweeping tail, a dense coat of curly hair and a distinctive beard. He's an agile athlete with a bright, friendly nature. The Dogo Argentino (working group) is a strong and intelligent hunting dog from Argentina, originally bred to hunt big game such as boar and mountain lion. He has a short white coat and expressive face. Due to post-production delays, the program, which was taped on February 29, was postponed from its originally scheduled April 5 premiere date.
