Plot Synopsis

Each episode of BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT focuses on a different prison program in the United States, following four or five at-risk teens as they attend the program and experience their intensive one-day in-prison session. The program then follows up with them one-month later to see the lasting impressions the program has left on them. In Season 3, teens are taken to the morgue and an older brother is forced to consider how his actions could put his little brother into a body bag, one boy fails a lie detector test when asked about hitting his grandmother, a promiscuous girl is made to dance like a stripper in front of her paraplegic mom, infamous inmate "Ice Mike" returns from last season and forces the teens to put Kool-Aid powder on their lips, and a self-proclaimed white racist teen endures the wrath of the entire African American inmate population. BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT returned for its fourth season on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on A&E. In the season premiere, four troubled girls who, between them, smoke weed, hit their mothers and have committed bank fraud, visit Oneida County Jail in New York, where they learn that their life at home is nothing compared to the terror of being behind bars. Season 6 of BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT premiered on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on A&E with a season opener that took place at Western Tidewater, VA, as aggressive sisters Quaja and Quona were joined by their cousin Tay-Tay for an evening in jail. BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT returned for its seventh season on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. In the season opener, which went inside the prison in St. Clair County, IL, two close-knit sisters have their loyalty tested during a stint in jail, while a teenage thief follows in the footsteps of his younger brother. On Thursday, December 3, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, A&E premiered the eighth season of BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT. In the season opener, "Oklahoma County, OK: Tears of A Clown," Kerina, 16, and Siera, 14, are sisters who emulate the violent lyrics and wear the face paint of the Insane Clown Posse. They learn that there is no clowning around in jail. A&E premiered the ninth and final season of BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. In the Season 9 premiere, James, an aggressive 15-year-old whose attacks on his mother have forced her to use a taser and pepper-spray in self-defense, is sending him on a tour of the harsh Fulton County jail in Georgia. Sixteen-year-old Darica finds her boyfriend is incarcerated at the jail she is visiting and reveals to him that she thinks she is pregnant. The series finale, "Lights Out" will air on Thursday, August 27 as a special retrospective of infamous teens, memorable one-liners, explosive moments, the most bleeped episode and biggest turnarounds in series' history.
