Hosted by archaeologist, anthropologist and historian Dr. Jeff Rose, BIBLE HUNTERS is a two-part documentary that follows the trail of those who unearthed ancient texts and forever changed how we see the Bible. Christianity's sacred text faced a crisis over 200 years ago when culture wars and scientific breakthroughs called many elements of the Bible into question. Adventurers set out to prove the authority and historic accuracy of the Holy Scripture, only to unearth disturbing inconsistencies, which raised more questions than ever before. Half a century after Robert Curzon and Constantin von Tischendorf discovered highly controversial early texts of the Holy Scripture, even more spectacular treasures were unearthed by new explorers, including twin sisters, two lucky young scholars, and one American millionaire. Smithsonian aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Easter Sunday 2014 (April 20), showing both episodes from 8-10pm ET/PT.
