Plot Synopsis

This reality series follows four urban tree-trimming companies in the greater Boston area, as they cleanup fallen trees, prevent property damage, and remove diseased or unstable trees. From power lines to irate neighbors, these urban tree cutters encounter things that forest loggers wouldn't dream of. In each one-hour episode, BIG BAD WOOD follows all four crews completing one job, such as a simple takedown at Southwick's Zoo, removing a 70-foot box elder from a narrow yard while avoiding power lines and a locked car on the street, and cutting down a massive dying ash tree that towers over a three-story house. The four companies are: Tree Tech, owned by Andy Felix, which has millions of dollars worth of equipment and is one of the largest tree cutting companies in all of New England, with foreman John Haehnel and his crew -- Coop, Noodles and Nick; Specialized Rigging and Tree Care, owned by Jay Malouf, which is old school and has him, arborist Mike Martinez and Fernando Rodriguez taking down trees with nothing more than a rope, a pulley and a chipper; American Climbers, owned by Rich Yurewicz, which employs the cowboys of the bunch -- and there's no tree too big or too challenging for Doug, Gilly, and Tim; and All Season Tree Service, owned by Brian Kittery, which is made up of a tight knit group -- Mike Conley, Kyle Keenan, and Jimmy Scannell -- who consider themselves like family.
