Plot Synopsis

BIG SMO is a half-hour reality series that follows country rapper Big Smo, as he balances the tireless life of a touring musician with the demands of his family responsibilities. Surrounded by a lively extended entourage including his mother, childhood buddies, long-time girlfriend and two young daughters, Smo is driven to stay grounded and succeed in a business known for hard living. In this series, with the help of tour manager JJ Harness and manager Dan Nelson, Smo celebrates milestones in his professional life, such as getting a brand-new tour bus, taking his music to radio and working with Darius Rucker. Plus, he hangs out with his band members, singer/songwriter/guitarist Haden Carpenter and singer/songwriter/hype man Alexander King. And at home on his farm in Unionville, Smo watches his daughters, Lanica and Amaria, blossom before his eyes, and he begins to realize that it may be time for him and his supportive partner, Whitney, to take their relationship to the next level. Through it all, Smo's determination, die-hard fans (known affectionately as his Kinfoke) and deep Southern family roots keep him going on his wild ride to fame. BIG SMO returned for its second season on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as A&E premiered back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "Smo Gets Sirius," Smo meets with Sirius XM to get radio play on their country station. When they turn him down, he plans an epic drive-by concert to try to change their minds. At the same time, Ameria struggles to pass her driver's permit test, so Smo offers her an incredible incentive. Then, in the night's second episode (10:30pm), "Big Smo and Rich," Big Smo gets a chance to perform his new stage show for Nashville's elite promoters at country star John Rich's house. Matters at his own house are dire when Smo's other daughter, Ansley, comes to visit and asks for help with a serious problem. In the rest of Season 2 -- and in the aftermath of his first major label release "Kuntry Livin'," which topped both rap and country charts -- Smo continues to convert tentative listeners into fans he affectionately calls Kinfoke. But for every professional milestone achieved is a personal sacrifice made. Hectic touring schedules and label demands don't make it easy for Smo to find balance between his role as an artist with that of a father, husband and son. As Smo works to secure a second album with Warner, he also strives to carve out quality time with his wife, help his daughters through their teenage angst and support his mom during the family's biggest challenge to date, her battle with cancer. Professionally, Smo will celebrate big wins like performing with rock legend Lynyrd Skynyrd and country superstar John Rich, alongside devastating blows like losing his writing partner and bandmate. But through it all, Smo's tenacity, coupled with the love he has for his family, is all the motivation he needs to fight for his continued success every step of the way.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 11pm-Midnight ET/PT, A&E premiered the Season 2 finale of BIG SMO. In the night's first new episode (11pm), "A Rich Collaboration," John Rich and Smo are together again -- this time to co-write a song that Smo believes is his best shot at convincing Warners to green-light a second album. During this, Smo also faces his biggest hurdle: dealing with the news of his mother's tumor. Then, in the season finale (11:30pm), "Big Smo's Kuntry Store," Big Smo may have taken on too much when he begins construction on a country store to sell all of his merchandise. In the midst of the build, Lanica preps for her first middle school dance and Smo helps her dress the part.
