Plot Synopsis

Created by THE BOONDOCKS' Aaron McGruder, BLACK JESUS is a half-hour, live-action comedy that follows Jesus, who is on a daily mission in present day Compton, CA, to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood -- with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers. Turning water into malt liquor or transforming an empty lot into a community garden to hide his weed, Black Jesus spins his own version of kindness, compassion and love for his people.

BLACK JESUS returned for its second season on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. In the season opener, "No Room for Jesus," Jesus looks for a place to stay in Compton after being released from prison, but he grows concerned when it appears Fish has returned to a life of crime. Plus, Jesus informs the others that his Father wants them to go legit.

Season 3 of BLACK JESUS premiered on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Midnight ET/PT on adult swim. In the season opener, "The Compton Carter," Jesus returns from jail to discover his running buddy Boonie has relocated from their old Compton Gardens apartment complex to the "new" Compton Gardens, where Lloyd is building manager.

On Friday, November 29, 2019 at 11:59pm ET/PT, Adult Swim premiered "The Real Jesus of Compton," the Season 3 finale of BLACK JESUS. The gang talks Jesus into starring in a reality show after a sleazy producer promises them fame and fortune if they can get Jesus to agree; it's a disaster from start to finish, but Jesus is determined to get Pop's good word out as a result.
