Plot Synopsis

Daniel Demoys, a corrupt council official who was once an idealistic young man, wakes up after another night of heavy drinking and finds he may have beat a man to death. Until that night, his alcoholism had driven a wedge between him and his family -- wife Alex and their three children -- but now it threatens his career. As Daniel begins his quest for redemption, he gains the public's adoration and becomes a candidate for Mayor. The public sees him as a straight-talking everyday hero who has been open about his personal problems and struggle with addiction, but his family and friends see the real person behind the public facade. Once elected as mayor and with Det. Dalien Bevan on his trail about the murder, Daniel finds he might have to confront the political machine, while keeping his secret from his wife and deepening his relationships with Bevan's ex-wife Sylvie, hospital nurse Donna and Ruth, the murdered man's daughter. Ovation aired the U.S. premiere of this three-part series on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 8pm ET.
