Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments and first-person interviews with family members and law enforcement, BLOOD RELATIVES tells the tales of murders for which family members are the prime suspects, while revealing complex layers of jealousy, adultery, and vengeance that resulted in those unthinkable acts. From the matriarch to favored son, black sheep to heir apparent, each 60-minute episode unravels the motives of every family member, who are all potential suspects -- and potential victims. Each episode focuses on a single case, including these families: the Heidts of Springfield, Georgia, where a secret history of lust and betrayal explodes in the deadly reckoning of a late-night massacre; the Hawes of Golden Valley, Minnesota whose legendary landscaping business transformed the town into a suburban paradise until the once-happy family gets trapped in their own web of greed, backbiting, and death after financial dirty dealings; the Whitakers of Sugarland, Texas, where a home-invasion robbery left half of the family dead, but one of the survivors knows more about the murders than they're letting on; the Dorotiks of San Diego, California, where the mother-daughter duo build their love for horses into a family business at Charisma Ranch -- but a money crisis threatens to shut the stable doors forever; the Mullenixes of Huntington Beach, California, where a mangled corpse emerges in the waters of a local yacht club leads investigators to reveal that this seemingly perfect nuclear family was running from a troubled past; and the Montemayors of Buena Park, California, where the patriarch retired from this family trucking business, only to have his children fight to be boss -- and in the wake of a kidnapping-turned-murder, investigators must sift through a conspiracy of missing money, wild rumors, and dangerous gangs. Season 2 premiered on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on ID, immediately following a marathon from 3-9pm, which included all six episodes from the show's inaugural season.
